Quail Ridge Books' COVID-19 Plans and Policies
A message about coronavirus (COVID-19) from Quail Ridge Books management
In the face of the challenges presented by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on both local and global levels, Quail Ridge Books has made protecting the health and safety of our customers and employees a top priority. We are maintaining a constant vigilance of the situation by tuning in to the guidance and information provided by government officials, health agencies, and scientific experts.
In accordance with Phase 2 of North Carolina's plan for reopening, Quail Ridge Books has established and is implementing several COVID-19 specific safety protocols and policies.
We want to share with you, our customers, the safeguards, protocols, and countermeasures that we have implemented so that you feel informed and more comfortable with how Quail Ridge Books is working to safely serve the community.
Our Front End Protocols
Customers must wear a face mask or other face covering at all times while inside the store. Employees are required to wear a mask when on the Sales Floor.
We are limiting the number of customers in the store to 5 per hour. Customers are only able to shop by appointment, allowing us to control the flow of traffic and adhere to safe practices with customers and each other. Browse-by-appointment takes place 10a - 7p Monday - Saturday and 10a - 6p Sunday. Appointments may be booked by emailing us at email@example.com.
Customers are required to go to the restroom and wash their hands immediately upon entering the store. We have established 2 hand sanitizer stations on the Sales Floor for customers’ and employees’ use. Our hand sanitizer has an at least 60 percent alcohol base.
Staff are performing hourly cleanings of the doors, rails, and high-touch areas at the counter and in the restrooms with low-odor, antimicrobial disinfectant. After each customer transaction at our single register, the staff member who used it is responsible for wiping down the keyboard, the mouse, and the outer plastic casing of the credit card machine with disinfectant.
We have 2 receptacles at the cashwrap for books that customers handle but do not purchase. Books placed in these holding areas are then treated to a light disinfecting process by staff before being reshelved.
In addition to verbally asking customers to practice social distancing with employees and other customers while in-store, we have clear signage on the exterior door and placed throughout the cashwrap area as a reminder. Our current policies and practices are explicitly stated and posted on the door and on the storefront window.
We are also offering contactless pick-up for customers who have placed orders online or via the phone. Bags with their purchases are tagged and prominently placed in a cordoned off area at the entrance to the store. Pick-ups are by appointment only, too. Pick-up appointments are from 12noon - 6p Monday - Sunday and are set up when staff notify customers that their order is ready. Pick-up customers are required to wear a mask before they are permitted to enter the store.
We continue to direct individuals to our online ordering system as the best and most convenient way of currently purchasing books and other items from us. We are offering free media mail as a perk to those customers for items with destinations within the continental United States.
Our Back End Protocols
We are encouraging staff to take health precautions that conform to recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) including:
frequent hand washing
using alcohol-based sanitizer & antimicrobial hand wipes
using antimicrobial disinfectant sprays where appropriate
reminding staff to stay at home and use paid time-off (PTO) options if they are sick
implementing a strict appointment model with our vendors and other partners
Our Door Signage
In support of social distancing guidelines from the CDC and the Governor of North Carolina, we are limiting the number of customers who are in-store at one time. We are also requiring all customers who enter the store to wear face masks or other face coverings during their visit. We are working hard to create a safe and inviting space for our customers and our employees.
Face masks or other face coverings are required.
If you are feeling unwell, or have recently interacted with someone who was feeling unwell, please do not enter.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Finally, from all of us to all of you, thank you so much for your continued support and patronage! We appreciate all that you have done to help us keep our staff employed throughout this pandemic. We are here because of you. Thank you also for your patience & cooperation as we work together to keep our community healthy. To each of you--stay safe, stay healthy, and stay strong.
