March 2023: Christy
Christy O’Connor is one of the Assistant General Managers at Quail Ridge and the mom of two elementary school age children. As a kid, she was sure to be the first to raise her hand in class to read aloud and now she's lucky enough to lead story time at the store occasionally or volunteer to read at her kids' school. These are just a few of the books she's kept in regular rotation for any read-aloud opportunity.

Who doesn't love a barnyard strike? Kids love the animal sounds and it's always fun to be the voice of the disgruntled farmer. Ages 4-8

Poor pigeon doesn't get to have any fun, no matter how hard he tries. He has such a fun and unique voice for reading aloud. Ages 3-5

The only way to read this book is with a strong but terrible French accent. Escargot is my go-to for QRB Story Time when I'm lucky enough to have a turn to read. Ages 4-6

These eyebrows are trouble and include everything a kid might like: silly pranks, irritated animals, poop humor. It's sure to make children cackle. Ages 3-7

Little Witch Hazel is the sweetest of stories. There is so much to look at on every page. My children are always mesmerized by this book. It's the perfect read for a cuddle session. Ages 4-8

You can't miss with any of Adam Rubin's picture books, but Dragons Love Tacos is practically a classic. Ages 5-7

Any of the books in the Creepy series are great but Creepy Carrots is my absolute favorite. With a nod to The Twilight Zone, even the grownups will be entertained! Ages 4-8

A favorite from my own childhood and one of the first books I purchased when I became a parent. My husband and I have a silly little soundtrack we created to go along with the book and my kids expect it every time now. Ages 4-8

This book always jumpstarts my kids' imaginations. We had to stop reading it at bedtime because they loved to imitate the animals in the game and things get wild very quickly. This is our #1 rainy day read. Ages 6-9

This story comes with a twist at the end that will even surprise the adults with the first read. This is a great book to grab if you aren't sure what to get for a birthday or you need something to read to a class. Ages 3-7
