Kids & Teens Summer Programs 2022

For each children's book club, there is a non-refundable fee per child. Purchases of book club books from QRB get a 21% discount.

BIRDS (age 5-7) | Page Turners (age 8-10) | LitWits (age 11-13)


BIRDS (Ages 5-7)

$25 per child. July 12th, 14th, 19th, & 21st from 4:00-4:45

This interactive book club/story time combo is led by Mz. Linda and will feature author visits, music, and general merriment. Perfect for the budding young reader!

  • Ty's Travels: Zip Zoom by Kelly Starling Lyons
  • Fish is Fish by Leo Lioni
  • Now You See Me... by Tish Rabe

Grown-ups: Before signing up for BIRDS, Please check the books' reading level to see if it is appropriate for your child. Children do not have to be able to read the books on their own, someone can read to them. Please be familiar with the stories before each session. If the book belongs to you, please write your child's name inside. Adults will need to stay in the store for the full 45 minutes.

 


Page Turners (Ages 8-10)

$25 per child. Meetings are every other Wednesday from 5:00-5:45 and will run from June 22nd until August 10th

This book club is led by Abbe and is great for avid readers. We're talking really avid readers. Like, the kids that all they want to do all day every day is talk about books. You know the ones. They'll have the most fun.

  • July 6 - Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell
  • July 20 - Framed by James Ponti
  • August 3 - El Deafo by Cece Bell
  • August 17 - Honestly Elliott by Gillian McDunn

 


LitWits (Ages 11-13)

$25 per child. Meetings are every other Wednesday from 6:00-6:45 and will run from June 22nd until August 10th

This book club is led by tee and will consist of engaging discussions on upper middle grade novels. Themes in these books will still be age-appropriate but may be slightly more sophisticated than those discussed in Page Turners. Mature students who enjoy thoughtful conversations will thrive in this group.

  • July 6 - The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
  • July 20 - The Legend of Auntie Po by Shing Yin khor
  • August 3 - Alabama Moon by Watt Key
  • August 17 - The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera
