Lucie Greene - 'Silicon States'

From respected futurist and think-tank leader, Lucie Greene, comes an in-depth look at the power players of Silicon Valley (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.). Greene says that before we hand over our future to Big Tech, we should examine the benefits and the potential problems of the world they might build. Through interviews with corporate leaders, influential venture capitalists, scholars, journalists, activists, and more, Greene explores the tension inherent in Silicon Valley’s global influence in Silicon States: The Power and Politics of Big Tech and What It Means for Our Future.

Our author will be in conversation with Kosta Grammatis.
Kosta comes from a background of invention and technology in service of the greater good. He was an engineer for SpaceX where he led the design of a satellite now in orbit, a visiting scientist at the MIT Media labs where he worked on vision systems for the developing world, and co-founder of the bionic eye 'Eyeborg Project' which was named one of TIME Magazine's best Inventions.

"Greene looks at the ways in which multinational tech giants, including Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook and others have resisted government regulation while pushing to take over functions traditionally provided by the state . . . An open-eyed analysis of influential technology companies' ambitions of interest to investors, tech users, and media consumers." --Library Journal
