Elizabeth George - 'A Banquet of Consequences'

We welcome back Elizabeth George with her 19th Lynley mystery, A Banquet of Consequences (now in paperback), on Monday, July 18, at 7 pm.  She will be our first event in our permanent store. Doors open at 6 pm!  The event IS happening!

Perhaps you've discovered her protagonists through her many novels (begun in A Great Deliverance), or through the popular Inspector Lynley mysteries on PBS.  This particular crime drama centers around one of the most wildly dysfunctional families you'll find in fiction, and features the Scotland Yard duo of Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers.  "George's mystery unfolds with great psychological depth, finely drawn charactes and gorgeous portraits of the English countryside." - The Washington Post

When Eugenie Davies is killed by a driver on a quiet London street, her death is clearly no accident. Someone struck her with a car and then deliberately ran over her body before driving off, leaving nothing behind but questions.

To this day, the low, thin wail of an infant can be heard in Keldale's lush green valleys. Three hundred years ago, as legend goes, the frightened Yorkshire villagers smothered a crying babe in Keldale Abbey, where they'd hidden to escape the ravages of Cromwell's raiders.
