Open Discussion Project

The Book Club Formerly Known as Bridging The Divide.

The book for this meeting's discussion is Melting Pot or Civil War?: A Son of Immigrants Makes the Case Against Open Borders by Reihan Salam.

The club's goal is to foster dialog and better understanding between people with different political viewpoints and to provide a space for civil discourse on controversial or divisive topics. There are several moderators whose viewpoints span the political spectrum: left, right and neutral. The book selections are also chosen to represent issues and viewpoints across the political spectrum.  The aim of each discussion is to promote understanding ... “Ah, now I understand how they can think that!” ... rather than convince anyone of a particular point of view. The group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm.

As with all of our in-store book clubs, participants receive a 21% discount on the discussion book; just let us know at the counter when you purchase it.

“A clarion call to everyone who cares about the American nation and
every person who calls it home.” —J.D. VANCE, author of Hillbilly Elegy

Why would a son of immigrants call for tighter restrictions on immigration?
