Our event with Gloria Steinem is SOLD OUT! We can't wait to hear the stories she can tell. Gloria Steinem shares My Life on the Road on Saturday, September 24, at 7 pm, at Jones Auditorium at Meredith College. She will be speaking 'in conversation', followed by a Q&A session. Ms. Steinem will be talking with Eryn Dale Byrd who is the director of Blueprint NC, a network of nonprofit organizations promoting social justice. The program will include an interpreter for the deaf. Gloria Steinem is a 2013 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. My Life on the Road comes out in paperback in August. "She changed America in a fundamental way without being damaged by it, or losing her joy. My Life on the Road is filled with beautifully told stories of the people she has spoken with and listened to, been changed by, helped organize, got radicalized by, could get lost in, could get found in. It is soul material, human and political, funny and touching, deeply spiritual. I began it again the day after I finished.”—Anne Lamott. Program detail changes: Ms. Steinem is not personalizing, but we will have signed copies. She is signing reserved copies before the program. There will not be a signing line after the program, but photography from the audience is fine. If you've already purchased My Life from us (hardcover or paperback), please bring books back to us before the day of the program. We will get them signed for you! We recommend those purchasing My Life leave copies with us to ensure they are signed. Receive an admission, admitting up to two people, with the QRB purchase of My Life. There are no longer admission-only tickets. Co-sponsored by Meredith Friends of the Library.
