North Carolina Opera’s General Director Eric Mitchko previews the opera’s January 24 concert of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin here on Wednesday, January 20, at 7 pm. His talks are always lively, and this one features live and recorded musical excerpts. Based on the Pushkin novel in verse, Eugene Onegin is a selfish antihero who lives to regret his rejection of a young woman's love and the killing of his best friend in a duel. The opera features some of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful music. He is joined by guest vocalist, mezzo-soprano Zanda Svede. Co-sponsored by WCPE, 89.7 FM.
