Dawn Shamp

Dawn ShampDawn Shamp is a Roxboro native, but now calls Durham home. She received an MFA in writing from Spalding University, and attended the Sewanee Writers’ Conference on a grant from the Durham Arts Council. Her debut novel, ON ACCOUNT OF CONSPICUOUS WOMEN, draws from her Roxboro experiences and stories of her paternal grandmother.

Among those praising her novel is Pamela Duncan, author of PLANT LIFE. Pamela says, "ON ACCOUNT OF CONSPICUOUS WOMEN is more than a novel. It’s a place, a time, a world you’ll want to linger in and revisit. ...You might as well go on and buy a copy. This one’s a keeper."
