A 100-year-old Bulgarian wonders if he has any wisdom to leave to the world and takes epic armchair journey through a century of violent politics, forbidden music, lost love and failed chemistry, finding his way eventually to an astonishing epiphany of tenderness and enlightenment. Winner of the UK Commonwealth Writers' Prize in 2009.
California native Alexandra Sokoloff relocated to North Carolina, and we're glad she did. She has an extensive background in theater and in screenplay development. Her debut novel, THE HARROWING, was nominated for the Anthony and Bram Stoker prizes for best first novel. She followed this ghostly psychological thriller with THE PRICE, a suspenseful tale of the depths to which people will go for survival, set in an eerie Boston hospital.
She recently completed a term on the board of directors of the Writers Guild of America (West), and is the founder of WriterAction.com.
